Lime green, grey at the pallu

A light lime green body in allover checks, colour-blocked against a wide grey pallu and held by a gold border.

The design

Checks at medium scale run densely across the lime body. The pallu shifts the whole drape into a soft grey, and a golden zari border runs along the edges to hold the two together. The bugdi border reads the same on both faces.

How it is woven

Woven in Mominpura, the weaving quarter of Maheshwar, on a pit loom with the weft inserted by hand and the checks set on a dobby.

What you receive

  • Unstitched Maheshwari silk saree, 6.3-6.5 m in total length including an attached, unstitched blouse piece of 80-90 cm in a contrast shade, included in the stated price
  • Width 45-46 inches
  • 350-360 g at 44-46 GSM, measured in-house
  • Semi-sheer body; wear with a petticoat
  • Woven in Maheshwar, Khargone district, Madhya Pradesh; country of origin India
  • Net quantity: one saree with attached blouse piece
  • Pallu kuchu, selvedge and edges finished; every piece checked before dispatch
  • Fall, pico and edge finishing available on request

Care and storage

  1. Dry clean only, by a professional cleaner
  2. Air-dry in shade, without wringing
  3. Iron inside out on low to medium heat, under a cotton press cloth
  4. Store wrapped in breathable cotton or muslin, in a cool dark cupboard
  5. Refold every three to six months so the same folds do not settle in

Colour fast on both wash and rub testing, on every colour. Cared for this way, the saree is expected to last and to be passed on.

Colour

Every handloom saree is individually woven by skilled artisans. Slight variations in weave, texture, and colour are natural characteristics of handcrafted textiles and reflect the authenticity of genuine artisan craftsmanship. Colours may vary slightly between screens and in natural light
