Polka dots and loose florals fall in uneven blocks, not a flat repeat.

Why this piece

  • An asymmetric layout, with dotted sections set against abstract floral ones instead of one repeating field.
  • Colour-fast, so the and muted pink stay clean against the deep ground.
  • Opaque, so it stitches unlined, with a lining left as a way to elevate rather than a requirement.

The layout

Sections of small polka dots sit beside sections of abstract floral shapes in and muted pink, placed asymmetrically over a deep metallic blue that reads almost charcoal in shadow. The dupatta is edged with a scrolling vine motif along its long sides.

Styling

The dark, cool ground makes this the most formal set in the group, at home in an office and at an evening dinner alike. A muted pink dupatta pin or piping pulls the accent colour forward, and silver rather than gold keeps the metallic depth of the blue intact.

The details

  • Top: 2.5 metres, 44 to 45 inches wide
  • Bottom: 2.5 metres, 44 to 45 inches wide
  • Dupatta: 2.5 metres, 35 to 36 inches wide
  • Weight: 600 to 650 g for the top, bottom and dupatta together
  • Stitching: up to 4XL for a straight kurta set, with the length customisable for larger sizes
  • Lining: optional, as the fabric is opaque and needs none
  • Care: dry clean the first wash, then a gentle cold hand wash
  • Craft: hand block printed in Bhagalpur with hand-carved wooden blocks
  • Dispatch: printed by hand, and still dispatched the next working day
  • Collection: Chaupar

Because every impression is stamped by hand, small shifts in the print are part of the piece, not a fault in it.
